International Women’s Day 2022 Spotlight: Hams Mohamed & Shrouq Hasan

International Women’s Day is all about celebrating the achievements, hard work, and daily dedication of women across the world, both professionally and personally. In the spirit of this global movement, we are dedicating the Incorta blog to our amazing women colleagues this week and highlighting 10 individuals in the U.S. and Egypt in a series of daily spotlights.

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

Here’s a look at two remarkable women who play a major role in Incorta’s success:

What is the one idea you live by every day?
There’s always a chance to optimize, a chance to do things in a better way,  a chance to live a better life.

If you were given the chance to go back in time and tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
Give enough time to take care of your soul and your health. You need to fill your cup first to be able to give support to the people surrounding you, who are counting on you.

Can you tell us about a woman in your life who served as an inspiration to you?
My sister. She is a fighter and a risk taker who takes on big challenges that no one believes she can accomplish — and then she impresses everyone!

What is one skill or attribute you feel is important for an effective leader to have?
Empathy. You need to have empathy towards your team because when they feel you empathize with them, they will give you back the best they can do.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
Getting inspired by the successful women stories around the world. It gives you the confidence that you can achieve more — the sky’s the limit.

What is the one idea you live by every day?
Live everyday like it is my last. It reminds me not to take anything or anyone for granted, and to be grateful.

If you were given the chance to go back in time and tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?
I would say to not be so hard on myself — it ends up causing mental and physical stress and takes away from enjoying many valuable moments in life that will never come back!

Can you tell us about a woman in your life that served as an inspiration to you?
My mom is my inspiration. She is the leader of my life, and she leads by example. She inspires me to keep going forward and be the best version of myself. Her positive energy is always contagious even at her weakest, and she tries to be the strong woman that she is when she is down to keep the whole family intact.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
It is a day to remind me to appreciate all the wonderful women in my life. Although everyday should be women’s day, this is the time to make sure I say thank you and celebrate all the amazing values every single woman brings to my life.

How do you recharge?
Dance like no one is watching! Dancing has a special place in my heart, it helps me let go of my negative energy and it brings me happiness and good vibes. Also breathing — it is sometimes hard to even focus on breathing, but reminders (even from an Apple watch) can be so effective. It is important to stop and be in the moment.
