Ethan Post: Sales Engineer / Dangerous Driver

“Our rapidly evolving Presales team at Incorta is filled with top tier talent coming from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences. The Presales charter is a simple one—We bring Life to the Incorta Value Prop—and our daily activities are centered around this mantra. We aren’t shy about how kickass our tech is, and we seize any opportunity to show it off to the world through platform demonstrations, architecture sessions, proof of concepts, and other activities with our future customers. The pace is fast, fun, and we occasionally “break things” (as expected) when working with leading-edge technology that disrupts the status quo.

“When we engage in the Incorta Proof of Concept (POC) stage of the sales cycle, we have one of the highest win rates I’ve seen in the industry.  This win rate is, without a doubt, the result of pairing truly disruptive technology with top tier Presales talent.

Ethan came to Incorta after spending 4+ years at a highly respected consulting firm. Often, the transition from a largely structured company environment to the “controlled chaos” of a start-up can be challenging. Ethan has not only adapted quickly, but he is also absolutely thriving at Incorta. It amazes me how much I continue to throw at Ethan without phasing him.  He’s made a large impact in 2019, and we have high hopes/expectations for him into 2020 and beyond!”

John Pelz, Head of Presales

What do you do at Incorta?

I am a Sales Engineer on our Presales team. Functionally, this means that I am responsible for supporting our Sales team throughout the sales cycle. This includes contributing technical expertise with prospective customers, providing product demonstrations, and helping solve real-world business problems using prospective customer data within an Incorta POC. I am also involved in several internal initiatives aimed at driving efficiency within the Presales and Sales teams.

What did you do before Incorta?

Before joining Incorta, I began my career as a BI Consultant, implementing end-to-end BI and analytics solutions for clients across the US. More recently, I served as the BI Lead for a large university health system in Chicago where I helped them build out their internal data and BI architecture.

When did you start at Incorta?

I started at Incorta in April 2019.

Why did you join Incorta?

I have a lot of experience developing and implementing what I now call the “traditional BI stack”. This often includes some combination of an ETL tool, data warehouse, data marts, and a reporting application. I was sold on Incorta the first time I was shown a technical product demonstration and realized that Incorta solves for all of the pain points I had been desperately trying to address using this “traditional” methodology. As I dug in deeper, I was very impressed with the quality of people I had been introduced to, and I loved the idea of joining an organization where I could help impact real change.

What have you learned so far at Incorta?

One major benefit I have enjoyed since joining Incorta is the access to our slew of internal experts. I am always learning new things here, so it’s hard to narrow down this list. I am very excited to continue learning how the Incorta platform continues to build out functionality in the fields of data science and machine learning, and I look forward to learning more here.

What is your favorite thing about Incorta?

The most rewarding part of my job is the constant reinforcement I hear from our customers on the impact that Incorta provides in their organizations. I also really appreciate that, as a small but quickly growing company, everyone at Incorta is passionately working towards the same goals, and I have the ability to help shape our strong internal culture.

Hometown?

I was born and still live in Michigan City, IN.

Fun Fact?

This is definitely not my proudest moment, but I have yet to meet anyone else who has caused an accident during their driving test.

We celebrate diversity and inclusion and believe in the power of freedom to try, fail, and learn! Come and be a part of one of the most exciting and promising companies in Silicon Valley!
